Safety

At Shook Masonry we are committed to safety above all else, and our commitment is central to everything we do. Our proactive approach creates value for our clients and safeguards our most important asset, our employees.  Led by our Director of Safety and Risk Management, Shook Masonry's safety culture is promoted by each member of our team through planning, implementing and evaluating safety practices throughout the company on a daily basis. Our team is dedicated to maintaining a safety-focused and environmentally sound business. We believe that a safe site starts with a clean site. We pride ourselves on our ability to work quickly and effectively, while maintaining the cleanest site possible.

Our safety program is action oriented and on going. Every team member gets involved in making a zero accident workplace a reality.  We schedule weekly support which includes, "Tool Box Talk's" in our weekly safety meetings, ongoing safety inspections, special safety equipment training, safety manual reviews and email updates. We are certified under Ohio's Drug Free Workplace (ODFW) program, and as such all employees must undergo random drug screenings.

Our supervisors are certified in First Aid, CPR, OSHA 10 and 30-hour OSHA training and take classes in Competent Person Training, Heavy Fork Lift Operations, Hydro-Mobile Hydraulic Platform Scaffolding and Conventional Scaffolding Erection.  New employees are required to complete a new hire safety orientation program and pass a drug screen before they are allowed on the construction site.

Our safety culture at Shook Masonry focuses on keeping motivational messages and emotions at the forefront of everything we do, every day. Family oriented messages remind us to to keep safety at the top of mind with posters and banners placed throughout our projects. Bringing our families to the job sites with these visual reminders positively impacts how we approach and value safety.
