Safety

As within all of Shook Incorporated, Safety is our # 1 concern at Shook Masonry.

We are committed to our Employees, to our Clients and to our surrounding Community to providing a Drug Free, Safe and Productive work environment.

In many areas, our Corporate Safety Policies actually exceed OSHA requirements. The results of these programs have allowed us to maintain an EMR that is well below the National Average.

Commitment:

Good safety practices begin with the commitment of the Company Management and Staff.

Training:

Our Management, Supervisory, and Field Employees are trained on a regular basis by our Safety Department under the strict supervision of our Safety Director.

Certifications:

Various key employees are certified in numerous safety arenas. These include, but are not limited to, CPR, First Aid, OSHA 10 and 30 hr, Competent Person Training, Heavy Forklift operations, Hydro-mobile   hydraulic platform scaffolding, and Conventional Scaffolding erection. We are also compliant with the State of Ohio Drug Free Workplace Program.

Inspections:

Our projects are inspected daily by our Tradesmen, Foremen and Superintendents.

Weekly written inspection reports by our Superintendents.

Monthly written inspection reports by our Project Management.

Monthly, un-announced project inspection by our Risk/Safety Management Director.

Periodic visits by our Insurance Carrier.

Project Site Specific:

Prior to the startup of new Projects, our Management Team meets with our Safety Director and together they perform a review of site specific safety requirements.

Those requirements are then incorporated into our Corporate Safety Policy Manual, creating a “Jobsite Specific”  Safety Policies and Procedures program.
